Fox News pundit Sean Hannity took to Twitter yesterday to defend his former producer and current co-president of Fox News, Bill Shine.
In response to a report by New York Magazine‘s Gabriel Sherman which said that Shine is worried he may lose his job, Hannity tweeted, “Gabe I pray this is NOT true because if it is, that’s the total end of the FNC as we know it. Done.”
Sherman’s report states that Shine has privately asked for support from Rupert Murdoch‘s sons, James Murdoch and Lachlan Murdoch but they refuse to release a statement on the co-presidents behalf. Shine has said privately that Murdoch, the owner, founder, and acting CEO of Fox News, has not shown him any support.
Hannity vaguely voiced his theory on Twitter.
“Somebody HIGH UP AND INSIDE FNC is trying to get an innocent person fired. and Gabe I KNOW WHO it is. Best Sean,” Hannity’s tweet read.

Hannity then tweeted out the hashtag ‘#istandwithbill’ but quickly changed it to #istandwithshine’ – presumably because the first could easily be confused with Bill O’Rielly, the Fox News powerhouse who was ousted last week amidst a flurry of sexual harassment accusations.
April, which is recognized as Sexual Harassment Awareness Month, has been tumultuous for Fox News. O’Rielly’s termination has sparked conversation about their former CEO, Roger Ailes who resigned in July 2016 under sexual harassment allegations as well.
Sherman’s report notes that Shine’s inability to change the culture of sexual harassment at Fox News may be the reason behind his lack of job security.
