On October 31, the iconic actor Sir Sean Connery died at the age of 90 only two months after his birthday. The official cause of his death had not been revealed at the time, and most people assumed that it was due to his ongoing battle with dementia. However, on November 29, the official cause for the Scottish actor’s death was finally revealed. According to the actor’s death certificate, Connery passed away from “pneumonia, respiratory failure, old age and atrial fibrillation.” In short, the actor died of heart problems and advanced age according to the information from the certificate.
Connery was known for appearing in films such as The Hunt for Red October in 1990, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade in 1989, The Untouchables in 1987 and most famously the James Bond film series from Dr. No in 1962 until Never Say Never Again in 1983. He first actor to portray the iconic spy in live action. Connery made an impact with several of the characters that he played in which films that he appeared in, especially as James Bond, who paved the way for many famous action movie characters like John Rambo from the Rambo series, Jason Bourne in the Bourne Identity series, John Wick from the film series of the same name and John McClane in the Die Hard franchise.
Connery’s family revealed that he was unwell for quite some time, and his long battle with dementia factored into his official death. Connery is survived by his family and will live on through his iconic roles from the movies he starred in.
