Sealyham Terrier Stache Wins Best In Show At 2023 National Dog Show

Stache, a Sealyham Terrier officially known as GCHP CH Goodspice Efbe Money Stache, emerged as the victor of the 22nd Annual National Dog Show Presented by Purina and earned the title of Thanksgiving Day champion.

The event, hosted by the Kennel Club of Philadelphia, took place on November 23 and was televised on NBC after the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Stache, who lives in Honey Brook, Pennsylvania, with his handler Margery Good from Cochranville, achieved a hometown victory. Good expressed her exhilaration at the victory, and praised Stache’s ability to handle multiple distractions and his well-balanced nature. “He’s so well-balanced, and he loves to show,” she stated.

Before he was declared the Best in Show, Stache triumphed in the Terrier Group, which granted him the opportunity to compete in the final round alongside the winners of the other six groups: M the Chesapeake Bay Retriever from the Sporting Group, Pumpkin the Dalmatian from the Non-Sporting Group, Comet the Shih Tzu from the Toy Group, Carson the Great Dane from the Working Group, Yaro the Azawahk from the Hound Group and Heathcliff the German Shepherd from the Herding Group.

Best in Show judge Carrie Chase declared Stache as the ultimate winner, while Pumpkin the Dalmatian secured the Reserve Best in Show position.

Prior to his victory at the National Dog Show, Stache was the second-ranked Terrier and the twelfth-ranked All-Breed show dog in the United States. With his Best in Show accolade at the 2023 National Dog Show, Stache has now amassed a total of 49 Best in Show prizes. Purina estimated that over 20 million animal lovers tuned in to witness the Sealyham Terrier’s triumph on Thanksgiving Day.

Stache intends to celebrate his victory with a delightful celebratory dinner and quality time spent with his six canine companions. His win dethrones Winston the French Bulldog, the 2022 National Dog Show winner, who made history by becoming the first French Bulldog to claim the Best in Show title at the event.
