Sam Lloyd in 'Scrubs'
Sam Lloyd, the actor widely known for appearing in various TV sitcoms including Seinfeld, Modern Family and Scrubs, died on Thursday at the Barlow Respiratory Hospital in Los Angeles at 56.
The cause was complications of lung cancer, his family revealed last year on a GoFundMe page that they arranged for Lloyd.
Last January, Lloyd reportedly began to feel headaches and got his medical test.
The result showed a tumor on his brain. However, his cancer on his brain, which had metastasized from his lungs, was “too intertwined” to be removed.
His diagnosis came shortly after his first child was born.
In March, the family shared that Lloyd’s targeted therapy began to lose its effectiveness.
Lloyd acted in dozens of television shows and films throughout his career, including his iconic sitcom Scrubs as Ted Buckland.
Zach Braff, Lloyd’s Scrubs co-star, tweeted his condolences.
“Rest In Peace to one of the funniest actors I’ve ever had the joy of working with. Sam Lloyd made me crack up and break character every single time we did a scene together. He could not have been a kinder man. I will forever cherish the time I had with you, Sammy,” he wrote in his post.
Lloyd is survived by his wife, Vanessa Lloyd, and his one-year-old son, Weston Lloyd.
