Scott Weiland Dead At 48: Scott Weiland performs "Vasoline"
Scott Weiland, the Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver frontman, died Thursday night, and was remembered by his colleagues in the music industry and famous fans on Twitter after the tragic news broke.
Dave Navarro, the Jane’s Addiction guitarist and singer, first broke the news of Weiland’s death. “Just learned our friend Scott Weiland has died,” Navarro wrote in a since-deleted tweet. “So gutted, I am thinking of his family tonight.” Navarro later tweeted his followers to send their thoughts to Weiland’s family.
It was confirmed Friday morning that Weiland had died in his sleep on a tour bus in Minnesota while touring with his band The Wildabouts. Though it was well known that the 48-year-old musician had long suffered from substance abuse issues, it has yet to be confirmed whether or not that played a part in his passing.
Weiland is survived by his wife Jamie Wachtel, and children Noah and Lucy from a previous marriage.
