How powerful is the human mind? That’s the question that mentalist and performance artist Scott Silven grapples with in his compelling one-man show Wonder’s At Dusk at New York City’s McKittrick Hotel, a haven for edgy genre-bending performance art. Set in the McKittrick’s Club Car lounge. a dimly lit bar with small stage surrounded by tables and a well-stocked bar, Silven impresses with amazing feats of mentalism and a heavy-dose of audience participation that included this author and another audience member picking the same random word out of different magazines. Silven stresses the subconscious connection of the community in the room and, by extension, all humanity. Not bad for a night’s work!

Wonders At Dusk is playing now at the McKittrick Hotel, 542 W. 27th Street, New York, New York.
