Science Channel Films 'Firefly' Reunion Special At Comic-Con 2012
The cast of Firefly, the Joss Whedon-created sci-fi show that took the concept of cowboys in space to a new extreme, picked up a vocal cult following, and spawned the 2005 Universal Pictures feature Serenity, are gathering together at 2012 Comic-Con this week to celebrate Firefly's 10th anniversary and film an hour-long reunion special to air on the Science Channel, entitled Browncoats Unite.
Nathan Fillion (Malcolm Reynolds), Gina Torres (Zoe), Alan Tudyk (Wash), Summer Glau (River), Adam Baldwin (Jayne), Sean Maher (Simon), writer Tim Minear and of course Whedon (who recently directed The Avengers with Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner and Tom Hiddleston) will appear in Browncoats Unite, which will explore fans' unanswered questions and deliver a dose of nostalgia to the scores of loyal and adoring Firefly fans out there.
"Firefly is a landmark work of science fiction and a favorite with our viewers," general manager and executive VP of Science, Debbie Myers, said, reports EW. "Ever since it premiered on Science, fans have asked us to do something to mark its 10-year anniversary. With this signature celebration, punctuated by Browncoats Unite, we will connect the minds behind this classic franchise with its legions of passionate fans," Myers assured.
Browncoats Unite will premiere on Science on Sunday, November 11, along with a day-long marathon of all the episodes in the Firefly series. The Firefly cast will hold a reunion panel to answer questions and reminisce about the show tomorrow Friday, July 13, at Comic-Con in San Diego.
