Scarlett Johansson was spotted on set of upcoming Marvel sequel, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, in which Chris Evans will reprise the title role.

Scarlett Johansson Films 'Captain America'

Johansson, who plays Black Widow, appeared on set in Los Angeles on Monday makeup free and in casual attire. Her brown hair was pulled back in a ponytail and she wore a pair of oversized sunglasses to shield her eyes in the bright afternoon. When it came time to film, Johansson ditched the glasses and covered up her natural locks with a shoulder-length red wig.

Among her many versatile film roles, Johansson claims that having the role of Black Window still amazes her, as she’s admitted she could barely pull off a somersault in her youth. “I am always kind of amazed when I see myself [as the Black Widow] because I’m like [laughing], ‘I kick ass!’” Johansson told Vanity Fair.

“Any stunt coordinator or stunt captain will tell you that you have to sell this, even if you are not doing the move perfectly right, and you’re always thinking, ‘Oh, my god. Am I selling this?’” she added. “Then, when I finally see the Black Widow onscreen, I’m like, ‘I sold it!’ [Laughs] I’m still surprised every time because I could barely do a somersault as a kid.”

Chris Evans' On Set Woes

On set with Johansson on Monday was Evans, dressed down for the day in a hooded gray zip up and sweatpants. The actor, who had injury makeup on the right side of his face, has stated that Winter Soldier has been his most physically grueling experience as an action star.

“I’ve been more hurt on this movie than I ever have," Evans told the Los Angeles Times. I haven’t broken a bone, but you get hurt. There was a bunch of fight sequences on this movie where you’re like, 'Wow, I just destroyed my knee today doing the same roll four or five times,' but nothing that ice and Advil can’t fix, I suppose.”

Captain America: Winter Soldier will hit theaters on April 4. Both Johansson and Evan will appear again as Black Widow and Captain America, respectively, in The Avengers: Age of Ultron, due out sometime in 2015.
