‘Saturday Night Live’ Takes Aim At George Santos In Opening Sketch

In Saturday Night Live‘s opening sketch, comedian Bowen Yang roasted Rep. George Santos for his recent controversies. The embattled New York lawmaker has come under scrutiny for lying about his education and career history before winning election into Congress.

The sketch began with Yang playing the part of Santos as an NFL reporter covering the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants game. The host of the sketch joked that they had to hire Santos due to the achievements listed on his résumé, including winning a Heisman Trophy and “more championships than Tom Brady.”

Last week, a photo of Santos competing as a drag queen under the name of Kitara Ravache came to light. Santos has vehemently denied this on Twitter.

However, on Saturday, he told reporters at LaGuardia Airport that he was young and having fun at a festival.

Toward the end of the sketch, Yang dressed as Ravache but denied actually being Santos.

The skit concluded with comedian Mikey Day making one final statement, saying, “George Santos represents America and can vote on wars.”

During SNL‘s Weekend Update, co-host Colin Jost took aim at some of Santos’ sillier lies, including being a star volleyball player at Baruch College.

Santos has been subject to numerous calls to resign, but he has so far refused to step down.
