'Saturday Night Live' Recap: Host Kevin Hart Does Drag [Video]

Kevin Hart, stand-up comic and actor, hosted Saturday Night Live in an episode that tackled the sequester, the election of a new pope and 90s era advertising.

Jay Pharoah played President Obama during the night’s cold opening in a speech on the sequester that included a talking point about how airport security would rely on travelers to take photos down their pants. Somehow this turned into a bit featuring the Village People.

The monologue Hart performed referenced his failed attempt to join the cast of Saturday Night Live, but not until after he told a very long joke about a homeless man in a Panera Bread.

Hart then got into drag as 9-year-old Oscar nominee Quvenzhané Wallis, who was selected as the pope to succeed Benedict XVI.

Hart also starred in The Walking Dead skit where the zombie hunters invited Hart into their camp as they tried a bit too hard to not seem racist.

The Weekend Update segment Really!?! With Seth and Kevin paired the host up with Seth Meyers on the Voting Rights Act. Best line of the skit: “Really, Supreme Court, don’t think people can’t call you racist because Clarence Thomas is your one black friend. Let me tell you something… nothing is more racist than having one black friend.”

Hart’s energy was perhaps best utilized in an advertisement for the “Z Shirt,” in which he made the alphabet annoyingly hilarious.

Next week Justin Timberlake will serve as both host and musical guest on SNL.
