‘Saturday Night Live’ Recap: Games Of Thrones’ Peter Dinklage Joins The Cast

Game of Thones‘ Peter Dinklage stopped by the NBC studios to host the latest episode of Saturday Night Live and the show had its hits and a few misses but was able to salvage some laughs.

The opening monologue was unfortunately shoved between two other sketches about a Donald Trump supporter and Winnie the Pooh’s cousin dropping by.

As the show progressed, Dinklage was able to shine. In the skit, “Naked and Afraid: Celebrity Edition.” Dinklage joined Leslie Jones to try and survive naked in the wild for 21 days. Jones kicked off her skit completely naked and was ecstatic that she would be joined Dinklage in this challenge. The two tried to get along as they survived in the wilderness with a fire starter and some hot sauce.

The next skit was Dinklage and his wife played by Aidy Bryant taking their out-of-town friends to the hottest restaurant in New York City. The restaurant has quite the character considering it was previously an underground sex parlor. Restaurant servers greet their patrons through a “glory hole” and served bread, corn on the cob, and corn dogs.

Playing into the anticipation of season 6 of Game of Thrones, the cast took on a behind the scenes look into the show. The skit was ultimately carried by Bobby Moynihan’s hilarious depiction of a motion capture performer who couldn’t stay in character. Moynihan was completely decked out in a dragon costume.

Musical guest, Gwen Stefani also added more to the show with her performance promoting her new album, This Is What The Truth Feels Like.
