‘Saturday Night Live’ Pays Tribute To The Late David Bowie

On Saturday night, Fred Armisen returned to Saturday Night Live to remember the late David Bowie toward the end of the Adam Driver-hosted show.

The studio was dimly lit as Armisen as took the stage.

“When I was in high school and living in Long Island, I stayed up to see David Bowie play on Saturday Night Live,” he said. “And watching him was, for me, a life-changing experience. He had these back-up singers that were like choir singers from the future, and a toy poodle with a TV monitor in his mouth.” He continued, “David Bowie transformed whatever space he was in, whatever medium he was using, and that night for me, he transformed live television.”

SNL‘s official Twitter account tweeted the short speech and captioned it, “Thank you, David Bowie.”

After Armisen spoke on behalf of the legend, SNL aired a portion of Bowie’s performance of “The Man Who Sold the World” in 1979.
