Last month, former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin announced that she had been tricked into appearing on Sacha Baron Cohen‘s political satire series Who Is America? Palin is one of many politicians who were —in her words — duped by Baron Cohen. Despite Palin’s complaints, however, Who Is America?‘s season finale aired last night without featuring Palin’s interview.

In a Facebook post, Palin wrote that Baron Cohen disguised himself as a disabled veteran and claimed that he was interviewing her for a documentary about American veterans. She called the comedian “evil” and “sick,” and challenged him to donate the proceeds from her episode to a veterans’ charity. Showtime, however, refuted Palin’s claims that Baron Cohen was mocking disabled veterans. The channel stated that Baron Cohen never presented himself as a veteran and that there was no wheelchair in sight. In the series premiere, Baron Cohen’s character confirmed to Bernie Sanders that he was not disabled.

Earlier this month, Showtime’s CEO, David Nevins, hinted that the interview might not air. At the Television Critics Association press tour, Nevins was asked about the Palin segment and said, “There are several people who have thrown themselves in front of buses that may not be headed their way.” It has not been confirmed whether or not Showtime was forced to cancel the segment due to a legal issue or if Baron Cohen simply did not find Palin’s interview interesting enough to air. Baron Cohen did, however, get one last laugh out of Palin during the season finale. Palin’s name appeared listed as “Special Publicity Consultant (Inadvertent)” in the episode’s credits.
