Sarah Palin Wants Immigrants To “Speak American”
Sarah Palin wants people living in the U.S. to “speak American.”
SARAH PALIN: “SPEAK AMERICAN”
Jeb Bush, one of the many candidates for the Republican nomination, has been using his language skills to address Spanish-speaking Americans. Nominee Donald Trump was not too pleased with Bush’s strategy and stated that he felt that Bush should stick to English when campaigning.
When asked whether or not she agreed with Trump on this matter, former vice presidential candidate Palin seemed to be on Trump’s side. “It’s a benefit of Jeb Bush to be able to be so fluent in Spanish, because we have a large and wonderful Hispanic population that is, you know, is helping to build America, and that’s good. It’s a great relationship and connection that he has with them through his wife, and through his family connections.”
Palin declared it would help unify the country if everyone spoke the same language, and that Bush, as a nominee, should send a message to Hispanic immigrants. “On the other hand, you know, I think we can send a message and say, you wanna be in America? Ok, A, you’d better be here legally or you’re out of here. B, when you’re here let’s speak American. I mean, that’s just, let’s speak English, and that’s kind of a unifying aspect of a nation is the language that is understood by all.”
Palin then commented that if Trump were to become president she would be vying for position of Energy Secretary, an area she says she is passionate about. “I think a lot about the Depart of Energy, because energy is my baby, oil and gas and minerals, those things that God has dumped on this part of the Earth for mankind’s use, instead of relying on unfriendly foreign nations for us to import their resources,” Palin said. “And if I were the head of that I would get rid of it.”
