Sarah Palin has finally broken her silence since her family reportedly got into a drunken brawl in Alaska a couple of weeks ago, letting it be known that she’s a “proud mama.”

Palin, 50, took to Facebook Friday to write, “I have to say this as a proud mama: right up there with their work ethic and heart for those less fortunate, my kids’ defense of family makes my heart soar!”

Palin lavished some extra praise on her daughter Bristol Palin, who allegedly fired off a few punches in the scrape. “I love my Bristol!” the onetime vice presidential candidate wrote. “My straight-shooter is one of the strongest young women you’ll ever meet.”

In conclusion, Palin made sure to point the finger of blame for the bad press that plagues her family on the liberal media. “As you can imagine, they and my extended family have experienced so many things (liberal media-driven) that may have crushed others without a strong foundation of faith, and I'm thankful for our friends' prayer shield that surrounds them, allowing faith to remain their anchor,” Palin wrote.

Palin accompanied her somewhat vague response to the less than flattering news reports with a photomontage that includes a picture of Bristol firing off a rifle.

On Saturday, Sept. 6, Sarah Palin, her husband Todd and their children Track, Willow and Bristol were all involved in a brawl at a house party that was celebrating the annual Iron Dog snowmobile race. The fight reportedly broke out after Track confronted an ex-boyfriend of his sister Willow. During the fray, the former Alaska governor apparently yelled out, “Don’t you know who I am,” while Bristol employed a “strong right hook.” Afterwards, Todd was allegedly nursing a bloodied nose.

No arrests were made, but local police confirmed the Palins' presence at the party and that there was a fight at the event.
