Sarah Ferguson Resting At Home With Royal Family After Undergoing Single Mastectomy

Sarah Ferguson is currently resting at home at the Royal Lodge after undergoing a single mastectomy. The news comes days after Ferguson publicly announced she was diagnosed with breast cancer.

Her family has been at her side since the successful operation was completed. Her ex-husband Prince Andrew is currently living in the same residence as her and her two daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, have been keeping her company as well.

The Duchess of York thanked her fans for all the heartwarming support she has received on Instagram. She posted this statement along with a picture of a purple flower, “Thank you 🙏so much for such kindness and support.”

She has also posted two “Storytime with Fergie and Friends” videos on her YouTube account since her surgery. She started this account during COVID for “all of the children out there who just need a little bit of magic.”

Ferguson did not state when the mastectomy occurred but announced the news on the podcast Tea Talks with the Duchess and Sarah. It was released on Monday, and she recorded the day before her surgery was scheduled.

In the episode, Ferguson opened up about her diagnosis with her friend Sarah Thomson. She urged people to take care of themselves and to make sure they get screened, as Ferguson had no symptoms but her sister, Jane Ferguson, pushed her to get screened.

Her father died from prostate cancer and was also an advocate for health care.

Her cancer is at an early stage and it was caught after a routine mammogram. After she received the news she was informed that surgery was the next step in treatment. The surgery went well and the Duchess was released after six days.

A statement was released by her representative updating the public on her health.

“The Duchess is receiving the best medical care and her doctors have told her that the prognosis is good. She is now recuperating with her family. The Duchess wants to express her immense gratitude to all the medical staff who have supported her in recent days.”

In 2021, she shared the vicious names she was being called by U.K. tabloids, including “Duchess of Pork.”

In the past, these tabloids also had compared her to Princess Diana, whom she was good friends with. They would describe Diana as beautiful while she was called “fat, frumpy Fergie.”

Despite this, she and Diana stayed friends and helped each other work through their mental health issues.

Ferguson detailed how these incidents traumatized her and she took a hit to her own self-esteem. Since then she has worked hard to ignore these comments and focus on herself.
