Samuel Haskell appears shirtless in court (Image: YouTube)
Last month, Samuel Haskell was arrested on suspicion of murder after a homeless man found a woman’s torso in a dumpster in Tarzana, California.
Law enforcement officials that processed the scene discovered evidence that led them to the residence where Haskell, 35, resided with his children and his wife, Mei Li Haskell, 37, as well as her parents, Gaoshan Li, 71, and Yanxiang Wang, 64.
Haskell has been charged with murdering and dismembering all three.
Last week, Haskell appeared at his first court hearing in L.A. shirtless, wearing a suicide-prevention belt and carrying a plastic bag with a mini milk carton in it.
Haskell did not enter a plea and changed his attorney before the hearing.
Haskell was known to have an obsession with guns, samurai swords and martial arts.
Mei was not a fan of Haskell’s fixation with weapons, particularly in the presence of their three sons, all below the age of 13.
The last day that Mei was seen was on November 2, a day she seemed particularly somber, a stark contrast to her typical upbeat demeanor.
On November 8, a neighbor’s child heard a scream, “Help! Help! Hello?” And then she heard a car door slam and screeching of tires and a car driving off.
Haskell was taken into custody after a homeless man discovered a woman’s torso inside a dumpster, approximately five miles away from the Haskell’s lavish residence.
Haskell is the son of Sam Haskell III, former executive vice president and global head of the William Morris Agency, who represented A-listers such as Whoopi Goldberg, Dolly Parton, George Clooney and Lily Tomlin.
