In the most recent episode of Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, the only female late night host on television ripped into Ivanka Trump‘s new book, Women Who Work: Rewriting the Rules for Success.
Samantha Bee‘s segment titled “Ladies Who Book,” was a continuation of a segment from several weeks ago, in which the host explored Trump’s success – or lack thereof.
The book, according to Bee, tells the story of a “working mother of a beautiful ten year old… lifestyle brand.”
Bee immediately tears into Trump’s uncanny ability to smash words together into nearly incomprehensible sentences – a trait she inherited, along with everything else, according to Bee, from her father. Bee pokes fun at one phrase in particular, “architecting life,” a phrase Trump seems to use quite often.
The former Daily Show correspondent then goes on to discuss Trump’s many citations – 208 to be exact – and the 30 times she quoted The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey.
“It’s like Ivanka forgot she had a book assignment, remembered on the last day, ran to the Hudson Books, ripped out random pages, then vision boarded them together with the contents of her waste basket to create Women Who Work. The only book to quote Nelson Mandela, Sun Tzu, and Meatwad from Aqua Teen Hunger Force,” joked Bee – Trump had accidentally confused Meatwad’s voice actor David Willis with another Dave Willis.
The most regretable part of Trump’s book, Bee says, is her utilization of a quote by Toni Morrison. The Morrison quote is about slavery and Trump uses it to ask if the reader is a slave to their time or the master of it.
Bee’s main gripe with Trump’s book is that, like Trump herself, the book attempts to relate to working women and feminists without any sense of self-awareness. Trump comes from a very wealthy family with a powerful father and as such her experience is no where near normal or average. And yet, Trump doesn’t seem to understand that.
