Sam Wong, a professor at Princeton University and polling expert, promised to eat a bug if Donald Trump won the presidential election.
On Oct. 18, Wang tweeted: “It is totally over. If Trump wins more than 240 electoral votes, I will eat a bug.”
Wong kept his promise and ate a bug live on CNN Saturday after host Michael Smerconish asked, “Really, what about the bug?”
“There are things that can happen that could bring the country together, but I don’t think the bug thing is one of them, I just wanted to point it out,” Wang said, after detailing how there are more important issues to discuss, such as who Trump will nominate to the Supreme Court.
Most polls predicted that Hillary Clinton would win the election, so the results left a lot of people in shock.
“Like John the Baptist in the wilderness, he ate locusts and honey. So I regard myself as being in the wilderness a little. After all, I was wrong,” Wang said with his fork raised.
“A lot of people were wrong, but nobody else made the promise I did,” he continued before eventually eating a single cricket covered with honey.
