Sabina Altynbekova, who plays for the U-19 Kazakhstan women’s volleyball team, is too beautiful to remain on the team, according to the coach and her teammates.
Altynbekova, 17, has apparently become a distraction during the team’s games. Coach Nurlan Sadikov, is fed up with the crowds fawning over Altynbekova instead of focusing on the game and cheering on the entire team.
"It is impossible to work like this," Sadikov said, reported Bleacher Report. "The crowd behaves like there is only one player at the championship."
During the 2014 Asian Junior Women’s Volleyball Championship, Altynbekova was not frequently spotted on the court. The teen spent most of her time cheering her teammates on from the bench. Although she was largely away from the action, the cameras found her more often then some of the squad's better players, who are reportedly beginning to resent the attention paid to Altynbekova.
Altynbekova initially welcomed the attention, but has grown tired of it. Afterall, she is first and foremost an athlete who’d like to be known for her prowess handling the volleyball more than her looks.
"I was flattered at first but it's all getting a little bit much," she said. "I want to concentrate on playing volleyball and to be famous for that, not anything else."
