Legendary Lebanese singer Sabah died at her home in Beirut of an undisclosed illness. She was 87.

Sabah, who was born Jeanette Gergis Al-Feghali, passed away on Wednesday morning, according to the Lebanese official news agency, reported the BBC.

Sabah’s storied career in entertainment spanned six decades in which she released more than 50 albums and acted in 98 films. In her heyday, she became the first Arabic singer to perform at New York’s Carnegie Hall, Paris’ Olympia, London’s Piccadilly Theatre and Sydney’s Sydney Opera House.

In 1940, Sabah put out her first song and followed up with her first film three years later. She continued to sing and act into her 80s, refusing to let her age keep her from entertaining.

In addition to her many accomplishments in music and film, Sabah was also known for her many trips down the aisle. In total, she was married to nine men in her life. She was last married to Fadi Lubnan, to whom she was wedded for 17 years.

“She broke so many taboos. I don’t know if she was even aware of it,” said Chady Maalouf, head of programing at Voice of Lebanon radio. “She was the example of a star, she was totally complete: in her appearance, behavior and voice. She shocked people all the time.”
