Ryan Seacrest and Julianne Hough have decided to take a break from each other after two years of dating, and are now living separately, sources told People.

Seacrest and Hough have made the decision to split because of their busy work schedules that frequently keep them apart. Sources report that the two remain on good terms, however, and continue to be friends.

"Honestly, their schedules were too hectic," an insider tells Us Weekly. "It just got to be too much. I think they both just sort of knew they couldn't do it anymore," the source adds. "The travel and lifestyle got to be too much. Who knows if this is just for now, but I think this is for good."

In the past, both the American Idol host and Dancing with the Stars coach and Safe Haven actress have commented on the difficulties of balancing their demanding careers with their relationship.

"It's a hard thing to do, especially when you're so caught up in your work and bettering yourself," Hough told Parade in a recent interview. "I think at the end of the day you have to find a balance with what's really important."

Seacrest, 38, and Hough, 24, met in 2010 during an interview when Hough was still dating country singer Chuck Wicks.

Reps for Hough and Seacrest have declined to comment.
