Ryan Phillippe Gets Engaged To Long-time Girlfriend Paulina Slagter

Ryan Phillippe, 41, proposed to his girlfriend of four years, Paulina Slagter, 25, on Christmas in Miami. The couple celebrated their engagement at a lunch in Miami on Sunday.

Phillippe gushed over his leading lady in an interview with Howard Stern back in April, even claiming he might get on one knee for her. He did indeed. Phillippe defended his lady’s honor on the show, noting that she will be graduating from Stanford Law.

This will be Phillippe’s second time down the aisle. The Secret and Lies star was previously married to Reese Witherspoon with whom he had two children – 16-year-old Ava and 12-year-old Deacon. Phillippe also has another child, four-year-old Kai, with old flame, Alexis Knapp.

Back in April, Phillippe blamed being too young for the downfall of his marriage to Witherspoon.

“I think more of the problem was age, you know, when we got together so young,” explained Phillippe. “I think it can create issues — two people in this industry — because there’s so much noise that goes along with it,” Phillippe said on Larry King Now.

Phillippe and Witherspoon met at a mutual friend’s birthday party and were cast opposite each other in 1999’s Cruel Intentions. They were quickly married but divorced in 2006 amid cheating rumors.

Phillppe and his new fiance are expected to celebrate the New Year together at the Five Star New Year’s Eve Bash in Miami.
