While filming his new movie The Gangster Squad in Los Angeles, Ryan Gosling got close with a squat, cuddly bulldog. The movie, about a face-off between the LAPD and the mafia in the '40s and '50s, also co-stars Emma Stone, with whom Gosling, 30, also recently worked on the romantic comedy Crazy, Stupid, Love. Actors Sean Penn and Josh Brolin are also part of the cast.

Gosling, whose movie Drive is out now, said he might retire from acting soon, as he's looking forward to settling down and starting a family. "I've been doing this since I was 12… I don't want to act much longer; I can't do one thing my whole life. I know there are only so many characters I'll be able to play. It will be over whenever the inspiration dries up," he told The UK's Times newspaper. The actor, who has dated Sandra Bullock and Rachel McAdams, was recently seen hiking in the Hollywood hills with Eva Mendes, 37, UsWeekly reports.
