Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes reportedly welcomed their first child together, a baby girl, last Friday.

Mendes gave birth to a daughter with Gosling on Sept. 12, reports Us Weekly.

Both Gosling and Mendes have remained tightlipped during the former’s pregnancy. Despite a number of media reports claiming that the Hitch actress was pregnant, neither actor confirmed the news. In fact, back in February, Mendes completely refuted the suggestion that they were expecting.

"It's so ridiculous,” Mendes told Ellen DeGeneres on her daytime talk show. "It all started because I didn't want to go through the scanners at the airport. You know those X-ray scanners, which are really creepy? They basically see you naked, right? And not only that, but there's a radiation aspect to it, so I always opt out."

Mendes’ claim that she was not expecting did little to quell the rumors that had picked up steam over the months. From the only time the actress was spotted out in public since making a red carpet appearance in late February, pictures appeared to show Mendes purposefully covering her stomach with an oversized bag. Insiders who claimed to know that the couple would soon be parents together claimed that Gosling was every part the doting father-to-be.

"Ryan goes out and gets the groceries. [Eva's] been wanting pasta, and he's cooking her meals," a source told Us. "Ryan has already stepped into the role of caring father-to-be."

Gosling and Mendes first began dating in late 2011 after meeting on the set of The Place Beyond the Pines. Since then, the two have had an on-off relationship. It’s unknown if they have plans to marry, but apparently the Notebook star intends to settle down with Mendes.

“Ryan grew up without a dad, so he always said when he had kids, he’d be there no matter what,” a source, familiar with the couple's on-off romance told OK! Magazine. “This is it for him.”
