Ryan Gosling has finally confirmed that he will star in the heavily-anticipated Blade Runner sequel.
Gosling decided to sign onto Blade Runner 2 upon learning that the film would be helmed by esteemed director Denis Villeneuve (Prisoners, Sicario) and that Roger Deakins would serve as the cinematographer on the project.
“Yes, that’s true!” Gosling told Collider about his connection to the Blade Runner 2 project after months of rumors. “It’s exciting! All of those things. And if I say anymore there’s a chip in me that will explode if I say anything else.”
Before Gosling gets to work on Blade Runner 2, he’ll be returning to the big screen in The Big Short alongside Brad Pitt, Finn Wittrock, Christian Bale, Selena Gomez, Marissa Tomei and others. In the star-studded film, Gosling plays a finance guy who, along with three others, predicts the mid-2000 housing bubble.
Also coming up for Gosling is Shane Black’s film The Nice Guys, in which he stars opposite Russell Crowe. Talking about the project, Gosling spoke effusively about both the director and the A Beautiful Mind star.
“I don’t know what to say. It’s Shane Black,” Gosling told Collider. “He’s a world unto himself and his world is so fun and crazy. I had such a great time.” As for Crowe, Gosling added, “Russell Crowe is so funny in the movie, and I can’t wait for people to see that. It’s a side of himself that he doesn’t show very often, and it’s hysterical.”
