With speculation reaching a fevered pitch about the upcoming Black Panther film, Marvel has found their director for the movie.
Ryan Coogler will be taking over as director of the first black superhero movie. Coogler debuted with his film Fruitvale Station in 2013 and came to prominence in late 2015 with his film Creed. This announcement comes from Marvel president Kevin Feige who broke the news in an interview with Empire. The cast for the upcoming superhero film will be mostly black. Feige says that Black Panther provides “get an unbelievable lead character, but you also get all of Wakanda which is a whole new setting and culture to explore.”
Chadwick Boseman, who will have an appearance in the upcoming Marvel movie Captain America: Civil War as the title character, will be reprising his role as the Wakandan prince in the 2018 film.
