Russell Simmons Calls On Former Friend Donald Trump To ‘Stop The Bulls**t’

Donald Trump‘s GOP nomination campaign has been peppered with numerous sensationally offensive remarks but reactions to his recent statement calling for a “total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States” seems to suggest he might finally have gone too far.

Russell Simmons Calls On Donald Trump To ‘Stop The Bullsh*t’

Jeb Bush has branded him “unhinged,” UK politicians are debating on whether or not to ban him from the country and Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling has even gone as far as suggesting that Lord Voldemort, arch-villain of the beloved series, was “nowhere near as bad.”

Perhaps most cutting, however, is Trump’s former friend Russell Simmons recent post to his website which calls on Trump to “Stop The Bulls**t.”

In the impassioned letter the hip-hop mogul highlights the work of charity The Foundation for Ethnic Understanding, of which he is chairman, which seeks to foster co-operation and tolerance between Jews and Muslims. Russell expresses deep disappointment with Trump’s recent comments and compares his hateful rhetoric to that of Hitler.

“My friends, both Muslims and Jews, are saying there are so many comparisons between your rap and Hitler’s, and I cannot disagree with them, Donald,” Russell writes.

Russell urges his old friend to make amends and “stop fueling fires of hate.” He opens up about the Trump he knew privately, calling him “a generous, kind man who has built a career on negotiating deals where everybody wins.”

“I’ll pray that this truth will ring a bell and it will not only temper your rap, but remind you of the man you used to be,” Russell continues in the solemn post.

He signs off with a message that clearly establishes the depth of the gulf that now exists between the former firm friends.

“I wish you good luck on your path towards the White House, but as I’m sure you know, our belief systems are polar opposites on many of the issues. And I will be campaigning rigorously against you. But if you win, I might still accept an invitation to your house to straighten you up every so often.”
