Russell Brand reportedly made an off-color joke about his sex life with his ex-wife Katy Perry while performing at London's Soho Theatre on July 31. "When I got divorced, I considered becoming a monk," he allegedly said. "When you're a monk, you're not allowed to have sex with anyone. When you're married, it's one person. That's one more than a monk. It's not that different. I'd be having sex thinking, 'Think of anyone, anyone else.'"

Despite the crude joke, Brand, a confessed former sex addict, has insisted that he was monogamous while married to Perry, 28. "It's a hard-core thing, monogamy. It's a hard-core principle. But beautiful, and to be recommended,” he told HuffPost Live in June. “When I was married, monogamy straight down the middle. You can't mess around with that stuff.” He also joked, again, about the difference between being married and being a monk.

Later, after his performance, witnesses reported seeing Brand, 38, disappear into a side room with a mysterious brunette for 20 minutes. Since their divorce, Perry has publicly dated singer John Mayer. She broke up with him earlier this year and has declared that she is done dating complicated men.

This is not the first time Perry has been the punchline of Brand’s stand-up routine. In an interview for July’s Vogue, she revealed that she had gone to one of his shows to surprise him, and ended being the one surprised. "He started making jokes about me and he didn't know I was in the audience," she said.

Brand and Perry were married October 23, 2010, just over a year after they began dating. Brand filed for divorce in December 2011, and they were officially divorced in July 2012. Perry claims that Brand broke up with her in a text message. “Let's just say I haven't heard from him since he texted me saying he was divorcing me December 31, 2011,” she told Vogue.
