Rumer Willis made her Broadway debut Monday night as Roxie Hart in Chicago at the Ambassador Theater.
Willis, who won the Mirror Ball Trophy in the last season of Dancing with the Stars, performed to a sold out crowd, which included her parents Demi Moore and Bruce Willis. Her sisters Tallulah Belle and Scout were in attendance as well, in addition to her stepmother Emma Hemming Willis.
“These people are everything to me. I would never had made it to that stage without you guys,” Willis captioned a picture of her family. “Thank you to my amazing parents for supporting me my whole life and thru all my crazy ideas and adventures and pushing me to be the best version of myself and to my sisters for being my partners in crime, my confidants and for always letting me be my goofy unabashed self. I love you all.”
Prior to making her debut on Broadway, Willis had steadily acted in TV and film while occasionally pursing a career in music. However, it was her impressive run on Dancing with the Stars – which included a cover of Britney Spears‘ “Toxic” – that ended up making a childhood dream possible.
“I’ve always loved musical theatre,” Willis told Playbill.com. “It’s one of those dreams that you have as a kid, but to actually see it happen is pretty incredible.”
“I’ve always wanted to be on Broadway, and to be able to do it in one of my favorite shows is so exciting,” she added.
