Rumer Willis Broke Her Own Water During Home Birth Of Daughter

Rumer Willis has revealed that during the home birth of her daughter, Louetta Isley Thomas Willis, she had to break her own water. 

On April 18, she gave birth at home in a pool with the help of a doula, her mother, Demi Moore, her boyfriend, Derek Thomas, and her sisters, Scout and Tallulah Willis. 

Her daughter’s birth was a fast one as she was already “dilated from two to eight inches in about an hour,” she revealed on the podcast Informed Pregnancy. 

While she was moving to the bathtub to start giving birth, her doula realized that Willis’s water was still intact. The only way to break it was for Willis to do it herself. She describes the experience on the podcast. 

“I reached my finger up there, and I’m feeling and it was crazy. I could totally feel this little bag – it feels like a water balloon, but with a bit tougher skin.”

Her doula helped her out by giving her instructions. She told her, “Okay, on the next contraction, just push against it with your finger,” and then her water successfully broke.

Next, she had to push twice, and before she knew it her baby was here. Her boyfriend and doula caught the baby and they unwrapped Louetta from her umbilical cord. 

She describes holding her baby for the first time as “the most ecstatic, joyful moment of [her] entire life.”

Since the birth of Louetta, Willis has dedicated several different Instagram posts to her child. 

The first one was a shared post with Thomas on April 25. It featured a picture of Louetta and the caption reads: “✨ Louetta Isley Thomas Willis ✨You are pure magic 🌱Born at home on Tuesday April 18th You are more than we ever dreamed of ✨”

Moore commented on the post, “Pure love for this little birdie❤️”

Many more people commented congratulating Willis and Thomas. 

On Mother’s Day, Willis shared two different Instagram posts, one for her mother and one for her daughter. 

In the first post, there are a series of photos. The first photo was a Polaroid of Moore with Willis as a baby. The next two photos showed Moore supporting Willis through the birth. Moore was hugging her child and holding her hand as she was in the pool. The last photo shows Willis laying on a blanket on the floor with Moore holding her hand.

She dedicated another post on Mother’s Day to Louetta with several photos of them. The first photo in the slideshow was a photo of Willis in a tub with Louetta. The rest of the photos include ones of Louetta and Willis snuggling and Thomas with Willis as she gives birth.
