Rudy Giuliani, the former Republican mayor of New York City, had his trip to the Republican National Convention (RNC) in Milwaukee last week bankrolled by the media platform started by My Pillow CEO Mike Lindell, according to Giuliani’s lawyer.
In a letter submitted to the bankruptcy court scrutinizing Giuliani’s finances, his lawyer stated that both Giuliani’s flight and hotel accommodations were covered by Lindell’s FrankSpeech platform. The letter included a statement signed by Lindell on behalf of the media company to confirm that it paid for Giuliani’s trip.
This revelation comes as Giuliani faces mounting financial challenges. He owes approximately $350,000 to a forensic accountant in his bankruptcy case, which the judge is trying to get him to pay or reach a deal to partially pay. Additionally, Giuliani owes around $150 million to creditors, which includes two Georgia election workers he defamed while he worked for former President Donald Trump.
The election workers, Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss, are likely to pursue Giuliani’s properties in New York City and Palm Beach, Florida, to satisfy the multimillion-dollar judgment against him.
Judge Sean Lane of the federal bankruptcy court in White Plains, New York, is expected to issue a ruling on how to move forward with Giuliani’s case. The judge previously warned Giuliani’s attorneys that “there are a lot of bad things that can happen” if Giuliani does not reach a deal with his creditors regarding the accounting expenses.
Creditors have attempted to trace Giuliani’s expenditures around the RNC but so far have only been able to obtain transactions from his personal debit card, which revealed only smaller purchases in Milwaukee, such as two charges for less than $100 at a hotel.
Lindell, the CEO of MyPillow, told CNN that he hired Giuliani on July 1 as a host for his right-wing broadcast platform, FrankSpeech TV. Lindell further asserted that he paid for Giuliani’s travel because it’s the company’s policy to fly all its hosts first class for ease of travel.
Giuliani himself has disputed the claims about his bankruptcy case and claimed that it was being dismissed because the “judge was preventing me from appealing the very unfair $145 million judgment” in favor of the election workers. He also asserted, without evidence, that the election workers’ lawyers were “paid for by Biden” and that the “lawyer in charge was a partner of Hunter Biden.”
The revelation of Lindell’s financial support for Giuliani’s RNC trip raises further questions about Giuliani‘s financial situation and the influence of right-wing media platforms on his activities.
