New Orange Is the New Black star Ruby Rose recently confessed that she initially wanted to undergo gender transition surgery — but finally decided not to.
“When I was younger … I think I’d seen a daytime documentary, or probably something on Oprah,” she told Access Hollywood. “I was like, that’s what I’m going to do.” She explains that she started saving then, “from probably the age of five.” But then she realized as a teenager that she “didn’t want to transition,” just “to be more comfortable” in her own skin.
In June, Rose already had given her audience a clue about her opinion on gender transition. In the video for “Break Free,” she was seen destroying gender norms. Watch the NSFW video below:
In the interview, Rose also talked about her “intense” and fast-growing fame and her celebrity crushes (she said she’s “obsessed with Taylor Swift” and wants her to be her best friend) and also asked Caitlyn Jenner to call her. “I want to hang out. You’re awesome,” she said.
She told The Guardian last year that she “used to pray to God” that she “wouldn’t get breasts.”
