On Nov. 18, Rosie O’Donnell’s daughter, Chelsea, was arrested for the third time in a matter of months.
She was previously arrested on Sept. 10 and Oct. 11, with both cases related to drug possession, in addition to felony child neglect.
In the most recent incident, Chelsea was pulled over for her car’s loud exhaust. Upon seeing her, the officer suspected she had used illegal drugs and conducted an inspection of her car, which found a variety of narcotics. Upon searching her person, authorities found a meth pipe hastily hidden in Chelsea’s bra. She was arrested on two felony counts of possession of methamphetamine, a felony count of possession of narcotic drugs and two felony counts of bail jumping. In a strip search at the Marinette County Jail, officers found another prescription bottle.
Her hearing is scheduled for Dec. 11.
On Tuesday, O’Donnell reacted to her daughter’s arrest on social media, writing, “After being bailed out by her birth mother, Chelsea was arrested again – and is facing many charges related to her drug addiction. We all hope she is able to get the help she needs to turn her life around.”
She added the hashtags “#drug-addiction,” “#tragic,” “#sadness” and “#truth.”
After Chelsea’s second arrest, O’Donnell shared an old photograph of her daughter and wrote, “Chelsea is in the news today. This is a photo from a better time. Sadly this is not new for our family. Chelsea has struggled with drug addiction for a decade. We’re all hopeful she will find her way out of this deadly disease.”
O’Donnell, an acclaimed comedian and television host, adopted Chelsea with her ex-wife Kelli Carpenter and raised her until she was 17 in 2015, when Chelsea ran away with her then-boyfriend and moved to Wisconsin to live with her birth mother. O’Donnell and her daughter were estranged until 2018.
