Comedian Rosie O’Donnell is still holding her grudge against fellow comedian Ellen DeGeneres.
She recently received an apology from DeGeneres, who said years ago on Larry King Live that the pair “weren’t friends” and that she didn’t know O’Donnell.
O’Donnell told The Hollywood Reporter, “She texted me a few weeks ago checking in, seeing how I’m doing, and I asked her how she’s surviving not being on TV.”
She added that they had a complicated relationship, citing that it could possibly be down to “jealousy, competition or the fact that she said a mean thing about me once that really hurt my feelings.”
O’Donnell said they used to be close: “I have a picture of her holding Parker, [my then-infant son].”
But now she says that she doesn’t “trust this person to be in my world.”
Her hurt feelings caused her to never appear on DeGeneres’ daytime talk show during its run from 2003 to 2022.
The Rosie O’Donnell Show was on air from 1996 to 2002.

DeGeneres appeared on the talk show to discuss her decision to come out as gay. The interview took place ahead of “The Puppy Episode,” a two-part April 1997 episode where DeGeneres’ character, Ellen Morgan, on her ABC sitcom, Ellen, comes out as gay. Ellen Morgan was the first gay or lesbian lead character on a U.S. network television show.
