Comedian Roseanne Barr claimed that her former employer, ABC, spied on her before they fired her.

In May 2018, Barr was fired for sharing a since-deleted tweet that read, “Muslim Brotherhood & Planet of the Apes had a baby=vj.” This tweet was referring to Valerie Jarrett, the African-American senior adviser to then-President Barack Obama

After being called out as a racist, the comedian soon apologized to Jarrett and “all Americans” for a joke she admitted was made “in bad taste.” Barr also declared that she was “now leaving” Twitter, as it was then known.

The tweet also caused the reboot of her show, Roseanne, to be canceled by ABC.

During an interview with The Daily Mail, Barr claimed that the network “monitored everything [she] did” and was looking for any reason to remove her.

“They were waiting for me to slip up,” she said. “They spied. They monitored everything I did. They wanted to censor me from the very beginning.”

She pointed to her support for President Donald Trump as the reason for their supposed monitoring.

“They hijacked that tweet and made out it said something that it didn’t,” the comedian went on to say, referring to the controversial tweet from 2018.

She also attempted to justify the tweet.

“The Planet of the Apes movie is about a fascist takeover of the world – and that is what I was talking about,” she claimed. “The tweet was intended as a humorous political statement and not a racial one. But liberals in Hollywood are so racist, they automatically think of a black person.”

One week after she apologized for posting this tweet and said she was leaving Twitter.

Barr retweeted the post of another user known as “Ghost of Bull Moose.”

“You didn’t cause any pain,” the user wrote. “Those people always hated you. Valerie Jarrett wants Israelis and Jews chased into the sea, and she’ll celebrate.”
