Rose McGowan Turns Herself In For Drug Arrest Warrant, Will Plead Not Guilty

Rose McGowan has turned herself in for a drug possession arrest warrant out against her.

ROSE MCGOWAN TO PLEAD NOT GUILTY TO DRUG POSSESSION CHARGE

The actress was arrested on Tuesday in Virginia after turning herself in to authorities. An arrest warrant had been released in late October after a small amount of cocaine was found in her wallet, which she had left onboard a flight to Virginia. McGowan says she was unsure if the warrant was legitimate, which is why she waited until this week to turn herself in.

“I will clearly plead not guilty,” she said. The actress has expressed that she believes someone planted the drugs on her to set her up after she spoke out about the sexual abuse practices of Harvey Weinstein. “I knew I was being followed and that I wasn’t safe. I even hired a private investigator to investigate whether the warrant was real.”

The flight was on Jan. 20 and she received a call from airport police the following day. The detective told her her wallet had been found but nothing of the contents of the wallet. She decided not to head back to the airport, as she was unsure if the caller was a real officer. Then the next day, McGowan claims, she received an Instagram message from an unknown user that said, “You left your wallet on your Saturday flight with your 2 bags of coke,” and then the user deactivated their account. And on Feb. 1, a felony arrest warrant was issued.

The actress claims she never took her wallet out of her backpack on the plane, but that she left it unattended once to use the restroom. “Depending on when and where the wallet was lost, individuals other than Ms. McGowan had access to the wallet for somewhere between approximately 5 hours 40 minutes and more than 11 hours,” said her lawyer in a court memo.

In an attempt to plead her case, McGowan says cocaine would not be her drug of choice in any event. “I own stock in a marijuana company, so that’s my jam,” she reasoned. “Imagining I’m going into sisterly solidarity, I can think of nothing more opposed to that, energetically, that I would want in my body at that moment.”

At that time, McGowan also believed she was being followed by spies working for Weinstein, who wanted to discredit those who spoke out against the Hollywood producer. The spies include former Mossad agents who work for a private company funded by Israeli intelligence agencies.
