The Mandalorian aired its the episode of its second season titled “The Jedi” last week. It is notable for introducing the Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) to the series. It is the first ever live action appearance of the fan favorite character. Ahsoka Tano first appeared in the 2008 animated film Star Wars: The Clone Wars before becoming a main character in the animated series of the same name. She then appeared as a supporting character in the sequel series Star Wars: Rebels. She was originally voiced by Ashley Eckstein. Fans have been waiting eagerly to see the character in live action, especially after she was mentioned in two episodes prior to her debut.
In this episode, the titular Mandalorian (Pedro Pascal) takes the Child (or Baby Yoda as he is commonly called by the fans) to the forest planet of Corvus, where he meets the oppressive ruler of the main city, Morgan Elsbeth (Diana Lee Inosanto). Elsbeth offers to give the Mandalorian a powerful type of spear if he kills Ahsoka Tano. The Mandalorian meets Ahsoka and reveals that he has no intention of harming her and was sent by Bo-Katan Kryze (Katee Sackhoff). After telepathically communicating with the Child, Ahsoka drops the hostile front. She also reveals that the Child’s name is actually Grogu, who was originally supposed to be trained as a Jedi before they were all slaughtered. Grogu was hidden in the area in which the Mandalorian found him during the series premiere. Ahsoka offers to train him at the Mandalorian’s request if he helps her overthrow Elsbeth. The Mandalorian accepts and soon a large fight between Ahsoka, the Mandalorian, Elsbeth and her henchman Lang (Michael Biehn) ensues. The Mandalorian kills Lang while Ahsoka defeats Elsbeth in combat and demands to know the location of Grand Admiral Thrawn, who was the main villain from the series Star Wars Rebels. Towards the end of the episode, Ahsoka decides that she is not willing to train Grogu and instead directs the Mandalorian to go to a Jedi temple on the planet Tython, where they can hopefully find someone who is willing to train the Child to become a Jedi.
