The Rolling Stones will make history Friday night when they perform a concert in Havana, Cuba.

Rolling Stones Cuba 2016 Concert Tickets

The Rolling Stones’ music was once banned in Cuba by the country’s communist regime, but tonight, the British rock band will play their first concert there as part of their South American tour. The free concert, which will be held at Havana’s Ciudad Deportiva sports complex, is expected to draw hundreds of thousands.

“We have played in many incredible places but this concert in Havana is going to be a historic event for us,” Mick Jagger said in a video inviting Cubans to the free concert. “We hope it will be for you, too.”

The Rollings Stones, who landed in Cuba Thursday, came prepared to put on a memorable show with 61 shipping containers holding materials for a stage, speakers, lights and video screens, the band’s production manager Dale Skjerseth told reporters earlier this week.

The historic concert is coming on the heels of President Barack Obama‘s historic visit to the country. During his visit with his wife, First Lady Michelle Obama, and daughters Sasha and Malia, the president addressed the Cuban people and attended a baseball game between the Cuban national team and the Tampa Bay Rays.
