Last week, Rod Stewart clarified rumors regarding his retirement from music. This came after his recent comments in an interview with BBC Breakfast that he wanted “to leave the rock ‘n’ roll stuff behind, for a while.”
In an Instagram post, Stewart wrote, “I’d like to clear up any confusion that I may have caused with my dear fans and the media. I shall never retire! I was put on this Earth to be a singer and will keep doing so for as long as the good Lord lets me.”
He continued, saying that he will perform in the U.K., U.S. and South America this year and into 2024.
Stewart also told his fans that after his tour, he would explore his “newest passion” and make “big band/swing music.” In the interview with BBC, the British rock and pop singer stated that he was creating a “swing album with Jools Holland” that was intended to be released in 2024. He also said, “Everything has to come to an end sooner or later,” which most likely sparked the retirement rumors.
The music artist previously departed from the rock genre with his Great American Songbook series of albums in the 2000s. He also experimented with soul music in his album Soulbook in 2009.
