Robin Quivers, the longtime sidekick of shock jock Howard Stern, has quietly been battling cancer that started in her uterus for 15 months.

Throughout her battle against the disease, Quivers underwent radiation and chemotherapy treatments and endured a pair of surgeries to fight off the cancer. “I thought she was a goner,” Stern bluntly stated on his XM Sirius radio show. Despite numerous complications, Quivers received the news three months ago that she was finally completely cancer free.

While fighting for her health, Quivers only missed two days on the air with Stern. For over a year, while she opted to stay out of the studio, she managed to broadcast the show from home. "It never occurred to me not to be on the air," Quivers said. "When I was on the air, I was pain-free." Echoing Quivers’ sentiments, Stern says he believed the show helped her deal with her diagnosis.

Stern went on to reveal just how deeply he cares for his coworker and friend, exposing a softer side to the often-crass radio host. “Robin means more to me than anything. Seeing her go through this f—king tore me up, I’ll be honest,” he said to his listening audience, before addressing Quivers directly to say, “The thought of losing you was unbearable.”

Quivers, 61, has been Stern’s sidekick since 1981. She’ll be touring the country this fall to promote her book The Vegucation of Robin: How Real Food Saved My Life.
