WESTWOOD, CA - NOVEMBER 16: Actor Robert Pattinson arrives to the premiere of Summit Entertainment's 'The Twilight Saga: New Moon' at the Mann Village Theater on November 16, 2009 in Westwood, California.
Robert Pattinson blew up his microwave during a recent FaceTime interview with GQ. The actor was trying to invent a new pasta which he had named Piccolini Cuscino or “Little Pillow” when the experiment went awry.
“He’s giggling and crouching as the oven throws off stray flickers of light and sound,” GQ wrote.
During his interview, Pattinson explained the motive behind his attempted pasta invention. “[What if] pasta really had the same kind of fast-food credentials as burgers and pizzas? I was trying to figure out how to capitalize in this area of the market.”
The actor’s hope was to make a “pasta which you can hold in your hand.” Pattinson shared that he actually made a prototype of the dish and pitched it to Lele Massimini, the cofounder of well-known Sushi restaurant, Sugarfish.
Pattinson’s pasta-making proved problematic during a series of comical events. The actor first burned himself after taking the pasta out of the microwave. He then proceeded to light one of his baking-mitts on fire and then wrapped the pasta dish in aluminum foil before putting it back in the microwave, which he claimed was an oven.
“Proudly he is walking back toward the counter that his phone is on when, behind him, a lightning bolt erupts from the oven/microwave,” GQ wrote.
“The f—ing electricity … oh, my God,” Pattinson said as his microwaved exploded and then went completely dark.
The incident had readers and fans on Twitter in hysterics. No one can tell if Pattinson, a known jokester, staged the experimental fail or if he was sincerely attempting to make his own pasta dish.
Pattinson’s failed recipe consisted of cornflakes, cheese, a mystery sauce, sugar, penne, water, and of course, aluminum foil.
