Twilight star Robert Pattinson is set to play the role of the late Kurt Cobain in a new movie about the rock legend, according to a report in the British paper The Sun. Courtney Love, Cobain’s wife, will be played by Scarlett Johansson. The biopic, All Apologies, will be directed by Fight Club director David Fincher, who also directed Se7en and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

Pattinson is Love’s first choice to play her late husband, according to The Sun. The Hole singer has reportedly been handed a key role in the film’s production that entitles her to make important decisions including casting and screenplay. Cobain, considered as one of the main forefathers of grunge, was known for hits like "Smells Like Teen Spirit" and "All Apologies." The Nirvana frontman married Love in 1992 and had one child with her, Frances Bean. After a long battle with with heroine addiction and depression, the troubled icon shot himself in 1994 at age 27. –KRIS ALCANTARA
