Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has decided on a vice presidential running mate from a short list that includes NFL quarterback Aaron Rodgers and former Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura. According to his campaign manager, Kennedy is close to announcing his pick.
Other prospective candidates include Sen. Rand Paul (R-Kentucky), former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard and motivational speaker Tony Robbins, according to two anonymous people with knowledge of the campaign.
Not everyone on Kennedy’s list has agreed to run with him. Paul said that he would decline an offer to be on the presidential ticket.
“I’m supportive of his ability to have a platform to speak out,” Paul said. “I think he’s saying a lot of good things. But I have no plans to get involved in the campaign.”
Similarly, Gabbard has stopped cooperating with Kennedy’s campaign and has seemingly turned her attention to former President Donald Trump’s. The former congresswoman hosted a fundraiser for Trump at his Mar-a-Lago club following last week’s Super Tuesday elections.
In a Politico interview in January, Kennedy said he would name a vice presidential candidate in 60 days, a deadline that he has missed by a few days.
Though controversial, Kennedy’s campaign has garnered much attention and celebrity following. His anti-vaccination stances have proven more popular than anticipated.
Kennedy has generated a lot of controversy with statements including that Covid-19 had been ethnically targeted.
