Robert Durst, who is suspected of having murdered several people, including his first wife, Kathleen Durst, is being sued by Kathleen´s family.

ROBERT DURST SUED BY FIRST WIFE´S FAMILY

After the documentary mini-series The Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst came out this year, Kathleen Durst’s family got the closure they had been waiting for for 33 years. During an interview with Durst, he accidentally confessed that he had murdered several people, although he did not name names. This led Kathleen’s family to take action against Durst for the first time.

“That, sadly, was the closure we’ve been chasing after for years and years,” James McCormack, Kathleen’s brother, told New York Magazine. “After 33 years of hell – really, there’s no other way to describe what our family has been through – we decided it’s time to sue.”

McCormack recently filed a petition at New York Surrogate’s Court in order to gain authority over Kathleen’s estate. By filing this petition, and being appointed administrator, McCormack will be able to file a wrongful death claim.

Durst is presently in prison in Louisiana for gun and drug charges, and is also awaiting trial for the murder of his friend, Susan Berman. Durst was also a suspect in his first wife’s murder back in 1982, but due to a lack of evidence, he was never tried. In 2001, Kathleen was declared legally dead.
