Robert Carradine, the star of Revenge of the Nerds, survived a devastating car crash and has been cited for careless driving.
Carradine, who became a nerd icon with his role in Revenge of the Nerds and currently co-hosts nerd reality show King of the Nerds, was driving down a Colorado highway on March 5 when his car swerved into the opposite lane and collided head-on into a semi-truck.
Carradine and his wife, Edith, were both injured in the car wreck and were taken to a hospital from the scene. The truck driver reportedly suffered no injuries and was not hospitalized.
Local police confirm that both Carradine and the driver of the truck were driving at around 60 mph, meaning there was no speeding involved. Police have also stated that there were no drugs or alcohol involved in the crash. “He was northbound on Highway 145 and drove right into the oncoming late. There were no apparent contributing factors,” said Colorado State Patrol Sgt. James Saunders.
News of the crash broke on Thursday, March 12, and Carradine’s current condition is unknown. Friend and King of the Nerds co-host Curtis Armstrong took to Twitter on Friday to assure fans that Carradine is on the mend, but Armstrong failed to provide any details. “[Carradine] is being well looked after and will be back at #nerdvana soon,” Armstrong wrote.
