Rihanna’s cousin, Tavon Kaiseen Alleyne, was a victim in a fatal shooting in Barbados. As a response to the tragedy, Rihanna issued an Instagram post calling to end gun violence.
Rihanna reacted to her loss by posting on Instagram. Devastated, the singer laments how she “can’t believe it was just last night” that she embraced him in her arms. She closes the post by saying she will always love him, adding the hashtag, #endgunviolence.
Rihanna’s touching post included a gallery of four photographs, showing the two of them together. Although she didn’t use her cousin’s name, she did tag his Instagram account in the first of the four pictures. Nation News, a local news network, reported on the vicious shooting, explaining how preliminary investigations show Alleyne was walking across a track near his home in St Michael at around 7 p.m. He was then “approached by a man who shot him multiple times before fleeing the scene.” Alleyne was swiftly transported to the QEH where he later succumbed to his wounds.
Rihanna and Alleyne appeared to be very close. Back on February 20, Alleyne celebrated his cousin’s birthday with her, affectionally saying how her presence is “a source of joy and happiness” to him.
