Rihanna Sues Her Dad Ronald Fenty For Appropriating Her Name In His Business Dealings

Singer Rihanna is suing her father and his business partner, Ronald Fenty and Moses Perkins respectively, for capitalizing on her name in their various business dealings.

RIHANNA SUES HER FATHER

Rihanna, 30, and her legal team claim she is not affiliated with their company, Fenty Entertainment. They claim Fenty Entertainment has leveraged her identity to sell fraudulent bookings, including one $15 million tour and two $400,000 Las Vegas tours.

Moreover, Rihanna cites how she has used the Fenty name in her endeavors since 2012, whilst Fenty Entertainment was established in 2017, five years later. “Although Mr. Fenty is Rihanna’s father, he does not have, and never has had, authority to act on Rihanna’s behalf,” Rihanna’s statement conclusively reads.

Speaking to Vogue in 2011, Rihanna discussed her strained relationship with her father, admitting she felt betrayed by him.

When asked about how Fenty forsaken her for money, she responded wondering what she is to him now, saying, “It’s really strange. That’s the only word I can think of to describe it, because you grow up with your father, you know him, you are a part of him, for goodness’ sakes!” She adds how “you hear the horror stories about people going behind people’s backs and doing strange things,” but she never thought her own father would have the capacity to betray her.

Continuing, the “We Found Love” singer discussed how her parent gave the press “a bunch of lies” regarding her and Chris Brown, her ex-boyfriend. “My dad went to the press and just told them a bunch of lies. Because he hadn’t talked to me after…that whole thing…. He never called to find out how I was doing, if I was alive, nothing. He just never called. He went straight to the press and got a check. And now he does it again.”

However, speaking with Oprah Winfrey the following year, it appeared the two were able to reconnect. Fenty later claimed in 2016 that his daughter bought him a Barbados home worth $1.8 million.
