Rihanna, in conjunction with her Clara Lionel Foundation (CLF), is launching a global scholarship program.

Rihanna Scholarship Program

The scholarship program that Rihanna is launching will award scholarships to both international students and U.S.-based students for U.S. colleges, reported USA Today. Among the countries participating in addition to the U.S. are Rihanna’s homeland of Barbados, Cuba, Jamaica, Haiti, Guyana and Brazil. In order to receive one of the scholarships students must have already received an acceptance letter for a bachelor’s degree program at a four-year college for the fall.

In an effort to provide the most assistance to the students who need it the most, scholarships will be doled out based on need. Grants will range from $5,000 to $50,000 and can be renewed for up to three more years or until the completion of a bachelor’s degree.

“To be able to give the gift of an education is actually an honor,” Rihanna said in a statement. “Higher education will help provide perspective, opportunities and learning to a group of kids who really deserve it. I am thrilled to be able to do this.”

Applications are currently open until June 10. It will be announced in August who was selected for the scholarship program.

“I’m very honored to announce the launch of the @ClaraLionelFDN’s Global Scholarship Program today!!!” Rihanna wrote on Instagram. “Congrats to the class of 2016!!”
