Rihanna arrived at her scheduled Diamonds tour stop in Adelaide, Australia, on Thursday 90 minutes after she was to begin her set, and was met by a chorus of boos from her fans.
When Rihanna heard the unhappy greeting, she said, "Adelaide, what the f–k, I'm finally here. And I now remember how crazy my Aussie fans are," according to The Australian Press. "It takes me forever to get back to Australia every time,” she added, without offering an apology or explanation for her extreme tardiness. She even took to Twitter following the concert, seemingly oblivious to having disappointed some fans.
Adelaid was Rihanna’s second stop in Australia, following a show in Perth on Tuesday. The Barbadian singer was 40-minutes late for that concert and gave a less than impressive performance, according to music critics who were in attendance. “Crotch-grabbing, apparent slurring and disinterest in singing marked the Perth leg of Rihanna's Australian tour,” reported The Sydney Morning Herald.
Rihanna has become somewhat known for being late to her shows, and cancelling them last minute. For the U.S. leg of her tour, she continually showed up long after her scheduled start time. The “Stay” singer canceled stops in Boston and Baltimore allegedly because of laryngitis. Rihanna’s concert sales have reportedly suffered as a result of being inconsistent with showing up.
Rihanna wraps up the Australia leg of her tour on Oct. 4, and then heads to New Zealand.
